Overview

As part of the discipline-based method, students develop their content fluency within an academically rigorous course of study that emphasizes the art disciplines of studio, criticism, art history, and aesthetics. Simultaneously, students hone their teaching skills through courses dedicated to art-specific and general instructional methods, which are applied in classrooms in the local elementary, middle, and high schools.

Visual arts education majors enjoy the luxury of new classrooms, small class sizes, and their own resource library and computer lab.

Students gain teaching experience at our Saturday Children's Art Classes.
