This rapidly growing major in Energy Land Management from West Virginia University focuses on energy land management and how it relates to energy development, with an emphasis on the management, coordination and development of surface, mineral and other energy interests.

The combination of various natural resource opportunities and many industry partners in the area gives our students an advantage, providing them with ample opportunities for intensive, hands-on experiences and exposure to all aspects of land work and operations.

Career

Energy Land Management has a 100 percent job and graduate school placement rate. Graduates often go on to become professional landmen, lease analysts, title analysts, lease negotiators, energy permit professionals, division order analysts or registered professional landmen (RPL). To become a RPL, a test is required after only one year of working in the field (as opposed to five years of required field work if students graduate from a non-accredited program).

Must have at least a 2.5 grade-point average on a 4.0 scale.

Must meet English Proficiency or request conditional admission and complete an Intensive English Program (IEP) application.

Please be advised that some Engineering majors may reach capacity and therefore will be restricted from entry.

For direct admission to some colleges and majors, SAT or ACT scores are required and must be sent to WVU directly from the respective testing services. For all other majors, international students are encouraged but not required to submit SAT or ACT scores, if available. SAT/ACT scores are useful for determining scholarship eligibility.
