The Studio Art and Design program from University of Idaho will challenge you to strengthen your creative voice as designer or professional artist and to hone your visual-material problem solving. Overview

You will focus on developing your ideas and techniques with intensive faculty instruction, hands-on practice in the studio, and with real-world clients and service learning. You will become a strong, marketable visual thinker with opportunities in a wide variety of creative disciplines.

As a B.F.A. student in Studio Art and Design, you will get a strong foundation in art and design practices before focusing on one of the areas of emphasis: Painting, Graphic Design, Sculpture, Printmaking, Interaction Design, or Experience Design, Ceramics, or Drawing. The program features a year-long Senior Studio and exhibition of your personal work your final semester.

General requirements

  • Undergraduate applicants who have no previous work at the post-secondary level must have at least a 2.5 grade point average (on a 4.0 scale) from a secondary school. Students must also meet the criteria for admission to university-level study in their home country.
  • An international application for admission.
  • Official secondary school transcripts identifying subjects taken, marks received and graduation date. If you have not yet graduated from your secondary school, a transcript showing all completed work may be accepted for early admission. External examination reports should be provided when applicable.
  • Official transcripts with subjects and marks received from any colleges or universities attended.
  • A statement of your activities if you've had a gap in education.
    • The ITI scholarship is automatically awarded at the time of acceptance to qualified students, and reduces international tuition from $27,876 (23,011 euro) to $12,810 (10,576 euro).

Funding

The Western Undergraduate Exchange (WUE) is an award for qualified new, first-time freshmen and transfer students pursuing their first bachelor’s degree in Fall and who meet the specific criteria. WUE students pay 150 percent of Idaho in-state tuition and fees and are not charged out-of-state tuition. WUE value is $15,066 per academic year.
