Overview

The Bachelor of Mathematics Education (Hons) from Universiti Teknologi Mara program focuses on the mathematics education, mathematical thinking and mastery of mathematics content knowledge such as Mathematical Foundation, Calculus, Linear Algebra, Numerical Analysis, Foundation of Mechanics and Statistics. Besides that, pedagogical content knowledge is also emphasized in significant courses such as Problem Solving in Mathematics, Methods of Teaching Mathematics and English for the Teaching of Mathematics.

Major & Minor 

Major Mathematics and minor either in Biology, Physics or Chemistry.

Programme Structure

Students’ ActivitiesThe Bachelor of Education (Hons) Science (Mathematics) program has given birth to an extremely creative and dynamic student club namely MESA (Mathematics Education Students Association). The club has been highly active in promoting mathematical thinking (such as mathematical games) and the use of mathematical knowledge through interactive activities in society. Besides that, the club has served local society well in conducting interactive learning as well as helping students to achieve good grades in public examinations for mathematics.

  • SPM/SPMV with a minimum grade C in Mathematics, Additional Mathematics, English Language and Physics/Chemistry/ Biology
  • Diploma from UiTM (in a field of Science and Technology) with a minimum CGPA of 2.50  OR     Diploma from UiTM (in a field of Science and Technology) with a minimum CGPA of 2.50  AND   passed Science Pre-Diploma with a minimum CGPA of 3.50 and with a minimum of Grade B in Mathematics subject  OR     Diploma from other recognized institutions of higher learning (in a field of Science and Technology) with a minimum CGPA of 3.00  
  • Malaysian University English Test (MUET) with a minimum of Band 2
  • PASS the Malaysian Educators Selection Inventory (MEDSI) test
  •  PASS the interview session carried out by the Faculty of Education UiTM
