Overview

The Mass Communications BA program offered at University of South Florida gives students the option of pursuing a broadcast program of study or a journalism and digital communication program of study.

The Mass Communications program of study offers two concentrations:

The undergraduate degree program introduces students to the theories, principles, and problems of mass communication, emphasizing the concept of freedom of information as the cornerstone of constitutional democracy and preparing students for future leadership roles in media and mass communication. Graduates should understand the structure and functions of media systems as well as the basic processes of mass communication. Majors produce visual, text-based, and digital stories for public consumption. While pursuing their studies, students are strongly encouraged to take advantage of internship and employment opportunities with professional media outlets.
