Formerly known as international studies, Global Studies is an interdisciplinary major at the University of Oregon. What this means is that students can tailor majors to their own specific interests. 

Overview

Global Studies provides an excellent general education for students interested in the complex interrelationships (political, economic, social, and cultural) of our interdependent modern world. 

The Global Studies program from the University of Oregon offers students tools to make sense of a fast-changing global arena; it ensures the practical application of their research; and it immerses them in the language, history, and culture of a major world region.

General requirements

  • The UO does not require SAT/ACT results for international students. If you have them, they can be used to prove English proficiency.
  • English proficiency: If your native language is not English, you must submit standardized language test scores.
  • Conditional admission: The UO may offer conditional admission to international undergraduate students who have not yet reached the required level of English language proficiency. If you are conditionally admitted, you will attend the American English Institute (AEI) to study English in an intensive environment.
  • Demonstrating financial resources. Financial documents must have been prepared in the last 6 months.
  • Personal statements and letters of recommendation (optional)
