Students while studying Veterinary Medicine programme of Wroclaw University of Environmental and Life Sciences obtain knowledge of the subjects belonging to the general and basic groups, which corresponds with general academic profile of education, then they have clinical subjects. 

The student takes the compulsory practice and clinical internships, through which he acquires practical skills used in veterinary profession. Conducting species oriented training, clinical internships and the opportunity to choose items from a group of elective subjects allow students to clarify and adjust the acquired knowledge and skills to the future practical profession. 

The theoretical knowledge in the field of veterinary science during the first four years of study provides a basis for practical training in the final years of study. Professional specialization can be continued during PhD studies, postgraduate studies and specialization courses for veterinarians.

How will you be assessed?

Semester credits based on obtained  course credits form grades of mid-term and end-term tests and exams held in oral or written form. In the case of some subjects tests and exams can have practical and theoretical parts.

What qualifications and powers will you get during studies?

Graduated from the Faculty of Veterinary Medicine has the qualifications necessary to obtain the right to practice the profession of veterinary surgeon. Such qualifications are given by regional chambers of Veterinary Medicine.

Graduates of the Faculty of Veterinary Medicine can work as: 

  • veterinary surgeons of “free practice” treating farm, companion and exotic animals,
  • veterinary surgeons employed in veterinary clinics and hospitals,
  • employees of the state administration,  the state veterinary inspection,
  • employees of institutes and centers of  sciences and research,
  • microbiological laboratory staff,
  • representatives of pharmaceutical companies and companies producing feedstuff for farm and companion animals.


The European Association of Establishments for Veterinary Education (EAEVE) Certificate of Approval According to The EAEVE: “EAEVE/FVE evaluation system gives assurance to:

  • the public – to know they can trust the quality of graduating veterinary surgeons and the service they deliver
  • veterinary students – to know their education reaches agreed and acceptable standards
  • veterinary establishments – to know that their curricula and School reaches agreed benchmarked levels”

Programme Structure

Programme for uniform single-stage course:

1st year: Basic sciences

2nd year: Basic sciences, Preclinical sciences, Animal production 

3rd year: Preclinical sciences, Clinical sciences 

4th year: Clinical sciences, Food Hygiene

5th year: Clinical sciences, Food Hygiene

6th year: Clinical sciences (horse diseases, veterinary prevention, clinical immunology, veterinary forensic, clinical internships, clinical practices). 

Elective subjects related to clinical sciences. Courses included:

  • biophysics,
  • chemistry,
  • latin language,
  • anatomy,
  • histology and embryology,
  • biochemistry.

English Language Requirements

This programme may require students to demonstrate proficiency in English.

General Requirements

  • Candidates for these studies have to possess a high level of knowledge on the subjects of: Chemistry, Biology and English on B2 level. This needs to be proven by certificate or school reports.
  • High school diploma and transcript of grades (if not included on the Diploma). The original of High School Diploma (in your language of origin)
  • Application form (signed by the candidate) - downloaded and printed from Dream Apply WUELS registration system
  • English Language Certificate (IELTS, TOEFL- confirming language knowledge on B2 level)

English Language Certificates 

1. IB Diploma and EB diploma are equivalent to the proficiency of English Language

2. University of Cambridge Exams: FCE, CAE, CPE- confirming language knowledge on B2 level,

3. IELTS, TOEFL- confirming language knowledge on B2 level,

4. Candidates from EU and EFTA (whole period of High school in EU and EFTA) – certificates confirming English language proficiency on the level B2, according to Common European Framework of Reference for Languages (CEFR) as well as :

1) Swedish candidates (whole period of High school in Sweden) – advanced English presented on High School Diploma with minimum grade : C or VG 

2) Norwegian candidates (whole period of High school in Norway) – advanced English presented on High School Diploma with minimum grade : 4 (god kompetanse i faget) 

3) German candidates (whole period of High school in Germany) – advanced English presented on High School Diploma with minimum grade : 2 (Gut) 

4) Candidates from countries where the official language is English and the medium of instructions was English during whole period of education : not applicable

Application fee is 85 PLN (about 20 EURO) for all candidates. The fee for internationals and EU/EEA citizens will be paid per semester, which is 17500 PLN (about 4000 EURO).
