The Accounting and Management (Hons) course from The University of Winchester, which lasts for three years with an optional fourth year as an MAcc (Hons), combines robust core accounting subjects with highly useful management skills in areas including marketing, human resources and strategic decision making.

You are taught by academics with professional experience as accountants and managers, who support your personal development and help kick-start rewarding and fulfilling careers in multiple fields.

Years 1 and 2 give you a grounding in financial and management accounting, including research and analysis and possible optional modules in a number of topics, such as Globalisation and Diversity, and Contemporary Business Communication.

In Year 3, you look in-depth at Financial Information Analysis, but it’s not all about balance sheets and bean-counting. A diverse range of intellectually stimulating optional management modules are also available, such as Strategic Innovation Management, and Financial Risk Management.

Should you continue to a fourth year, you can choose specialist and creative topics such as Entrepreneurship, as well as academically rigorous courses like Business Consulting and Corporate Governance. You can also take work placements as part of credit-bearing modules.

Careers

Many graduates take up trainee accounting positions with accounting firms or departments and go on to become professionally qualified accountants. Others choose to enter a wide range of business careers such as banking, insurance, financial services and general management.
