Overview
You'll complete an intensive one-year programme and gain the advanced theoretical knowledge and skills you need to pursue a scientific career. Develop your skills in research design and implementation, critical thinking, data analysis and scientific communication with Bachelor of Science in Ecology and Biodiversity program offered at the Victoria University of Wellington
Research Skills
You'll take courses worth a total of 120 points, including a 30-point research project for most subjects. The research project will give you practical training in research methods and experience in the process of creating scientific knowledge. It will also set you up with the skills you need to go on to complete a Master's or PhD programme.
You can take an interdisciplinary approach to your studies and substitute some optional courses with ones from other programmes—such as combining Marine Biology with Chemistry, or Geophysics with Geology.
If you want to carry out more self-directed scientific study and have a B+ average in you subject area at 300 level, then a BSc(Hons) is a good choice for you. If you don't have the required background for entry into Honours, you could do a Graduate Diploma in Science instead.
