The Department of Agricultural Economics and Agribusiness offers a major with three concentrations that lead to a Bachelor of Science in Agriculture degree. The department also offers a minor in Agricultural Business and a minor in International Economic Development. The minor in Agricultural Business can be completed 100% online.
Managers of farms and agricultural businesses are continually required to make organizational and operational decisions. The basic skills and knowledge needed for making sound decisions are provided by the agricultural business curriculum. Students of the Agricultural Business major from University of Arkansas may elect to specialize in areas compatible with their personal objectives, depending on the extent of accounting and business orientation desired.
Students educated in agricultural business are in demand for positions in agricultural industries, farm operation, marketing agencies, agricultural service organizations, state and federal agencies, and numerous other positions. For those who go on to graduate school, teaching and research positions are available with land-grant colleges as well as with other institutions. Three concentrations are available to meet career objectives:
- Agricultural Business Management and Marketing (ABMM)
- Pre-Law, for students preparing to attend law school (PRLW)
- Agricultural Economics, which emphasizes quantitative and analytical skills to prepare students for graduate school (AGEC).

- New freshman applicants should have a high school grade point average of 3.00 or higher on a 4.00 scale that only weights AP, IB, and clearly indicated concurrent/dual enrollment courses with one extra grade point.
- Applicants from states outside Arkansas should meet general admission requirements and may be required to meet higher standards, depending on demand and enrollment capacity.
- The University of Arkansas continues to require test scores for most scholarship opportunities, and the state of Arkansas requires ACT or SAT scores for Arkansas students applying for the Arkansas Academic Challenge Scholarship and Governor’s Distinguished Scholarship.
