Musical theatre is popular the world over. Some of the most famous and iconic of musicals have been performed for generations, in large venues and small, by professionals and amateur groups. Musical theatre is a collaborative process in which every person contributes – on the stage or behind the scenes. As part of a community of performers, students learn to be respectful of others.

Creighton faculty members are active in the local theatre community and can help you locate summer internships and opportunities off-campus during the academic year.

According to the U.S. Bureau of Labor Statistics, employment of actors, producers, directors, dancers and choreographers, is predicted to grow between 3% and 14% by 2022. Increasingly, a bachelor’s degree is considered the entry-level degree in the field.

Versatile performers can contribute complex, valuable skill sets to the field. Employers of musical theatre graduates from Creighton include:

  • Arts councils
  • Musical organizations
  • Theatre companies
  • Film companies
  • Festivals
  • Dance companies
  • Public television and public radio
  • Performing arts centers

Performing arts graduates have also successfully pursued advanced study.
