If so, the University of Colorado Denver’s undergraduate Education and Human Development with Early Childhood Education program which leads to Colorado teacher licensure might be the right program for you. We prepare highly competent early childhood education professionals who are known for embracing the whole child in inclusive, culturally and linguistically diverse public school or community-based early childhood education settings. With this licensure, you will be eligible to teach in pre-K through grade three classrooms in the public schools or in infants through five year old community child care programs.

Academic Requirements

You need the following GPA score:

Required score: 3

Applicants for graduate programs must have the equivalent of a bachelor’s degree with a minimum GPA equivalent to 3 on a US 4.0 grading scale. Admitted applicants typically have an undergraduate GPA of or better on a 4.0 scale. No exam grade should be lower than 4.5 (European grade scale) or D (American grade scale).

Your GPA (Grade Point Average) is calculated using the grades that you received in each course, and is determined by the points assigned to each grade (e.g. for the US grading scale from A-F).

  • Request an official high school transcript be mailed from your high school directly to the CU Denver Office of Admissions
  • Official transcripts are those that arrive at our office in an envelope sealed by the institution or local ministry of education
  • The University of Colorado Denver requires official transcripts from your US high school, as well as transcripts for any secondary school coursework completed prior to enrollment in the US. SAT/ACT tests are required for international students who have graduated from a U.S. high school
