Description

SWE-KC is the Kansas City Section of the Society of Women Engineers. They bring SWE professional members in the Kansas City area together for the purpose of achieving Society-level goals on a local level. SWE-KC focuses specifically on professional development, STEM Outreach, networking events, and recognizing women for their achievements.

The Kansas City Section was chartered in 1982.  The section hosted the SWE national convention in 1987 and 2003.  Career guidance has always been a priority for this section including working with the Girl Scouts and Introduce a Girl to Engineering Day.

Cheri Leigh, SWE Fellow and Life Member, established this scholarship in 2018 in honor of the Kansas City Section and the new generation of leadership.  These women have advanced the status of women engineers in Kansas City and lead the way for the next generation.  This scholarship provides an opportunity for one more young woman in our region to thrive in engineering.
