Description

The Harold Cardinal Essay Prize is awarded annually in recognition of outstanding achievement by Athabasca University (AU) undergraduate students for written work on the preservation of Aboriginal and treaty rights.

The scholarship is worth the following amount: 1st: $3000, 2nd: $1500, 3rd: $500.

Eligibility

  • The essay must be an original work that is properly documented and formatted. 
  • Original essays formally submitted for coursework from any AU undergraduate program are considered eligible for submission. 
  • Applicants must be of Aboriginal descent and must also be able to demonstrate commitment to Aboriginal rights, a history of advocacy for Aboriginal people, and contribution to community, law, politics, or government as they pertain to Aboriginal people.
