Study in English in Germany: Bachelors for Students Who Speak Zero German

Very few countries in Europe have so many attractive features for Bachelor’s students as Germany: top study programmes, low tuition fees (sometimes no tuition), affordable living costs, and excellent quality of life.

But when you think this couldn’t get any better, you hear a German word like “Donaudampfschifffahrtsgesellschaftskapitän” (captain of a Danube steamship company), and you inevitably wonder how can Germans fit more than two words in a tweet, and how can international students manage to study in Germany?

English-taught Bachelors don’t mean you won’t need German at all

Enrolling at one of the few hundred English-taught Bachelors available in Germany will make your academic life easier. Plus, you will meet and hang out with other international students like you.

However, when it comes to everyday life, knowing a little German really makes a difference. Just like in most other places in the world, local people in small cities, the older generation, and business people prefer speaking their native language.

So, if you want to make Germany your home, you should consider taking some German-language courses while studying abroad. This will also help you if you decide to stay in Germany and apply for a Master’s degree as well.
